Prince Charles -Serving the Community for Over 50 Years.
About Us
Where Are We Located?
Prince Charles is a community that is home to approximately 710 homes (2019 Edmonton Municipal Census). We are bounded on the north by the Yellowhead Trail, on the west by 127 Street, on the east by 121 Street, and on the south by 118 Avenue. Many of the homes in our neighbourhood were built on large lots in the decade after WW II and boast beautiful, mature trees.

Our History
The neighbourhood of Prince Charles has a storied history. The land on which it is situated was originally owned by N. McCauley and A. Wilson with the Wilson land later forming part of the current Hagmann Industrial Estate. Our community, first subdivided in 1905, was known originally as North Inglewood and was annexed to Edmonton in 1910. Development of the area was spurred by the extension of the electric street car line to our neighbourhood’s southern border in 1913 and a further extension up 127 Street, towards the railway hamlet of Calder, in 1916. In 1953 the existing elementary school was renamed in honour of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. The name was adopted by the then commercial league who successfully petitioned the City to also name our community Prince Charles. Many of our residents have lived in this community for generations.

What Does the Prince Charles Community League Do?
The Prince Charles Community League is a team of neighbours who are working together to make sure that issues that are affecting our community are brought forward for information, discussion and debate. In the past, the Community League has petitioned the City on several issues, most notably the decision to allow Garage and Garden Suites on residential lots. We hold a number of events throughout the year, designed to build community and friendships between neighbours. We hope to see you at some of our meetings or our events!
